[Question]Update or patch DRM-free games without client ?
I had been pirating games since a decade ago because I couldn't afford original games' price in my area, or it was just hard to find the legal distributor, or maybe I was just don't care to buy it at all.
But now, I've been working and want to support developer. Plus now, it's getting easier to buy original games everywhere. I already bought several games digitally on Steam and planning to buy the games I used to pirate to compensate for what I've done a decade ago, although not all of them. I've been using Steam since last year and suddenly realize that Steam only sell license and not the right to fully own it, I was looking for another solution and found GoG and Humble Bundle. They offer the right to fully download the installer without any DRM-restriction or client needed.
And then I wonder, how to update/patch the game that is DRM-free if I buy it at GoG or Humble Bundle without the client? Is there any feature that let me to download the update or patch only once I bought in there?
Back when I pirated the game, there is manual patch and I used to searched the info for what is the latest patch of that game, googled it thoroughly and installed/patched it or if I use client like Steam and GoG Galaxy, they will automatically update/patch it.
